The Governance Board of the Clinical Research Facility met on the 13th September and confirmed the appointment of Professor Colm Bergin as Director until 31 December 2017. This follows the appointment in August of Professor Michael Gill as Head of the TCD School of Medicine. The Board also approved the appointment of Professor Martina Hennessy as Director from 1st January 2017 who will also serve as an interim Associate Director until she takes up her position as Director in January. To facilitate a smooth leadership transition Professor Gill will be involved in the CRF as an Associate Director until early 2018.
Professor Bergin was appointed the CRF’s Associate Director in late 2012 and has brought his energy and enthusiasm to the aim of embedding the CRF into the working life of the hospital. Together with professor Gill and CRF staff members, the CRF has had a successful external review and funding from the HRB for the CRF has been secured for a further four years. Professor Martina Hennessy is a Consultant Clinical Pharmacologist and a member of the medical staff of St. James’s Hospital. She is currently the Vice Dean of Research within TCD.
At the CRF Governance Board meeting, Professor Paul Brown congratulated Professor Gill on his appointment and thanked him for his hard work in leading the CRF since 2012.
