St. James’s Hospital is a research-active hospital and it supports staff in all types of research to explore and quantify outcomes. Eilis O’Toole, a Research Nurse in the Clinical Research Facility primarily based in the Intensive Care Unit works on Complex Clinical Trials and decided to coordinate a Research Awareness Campaign to celebrate research as part of the International Clinical Trials Day 18th May. Eilis generated support from various allied Health Professionals from around the Hospital who work every day as part of research teams. The day has seen fantastic support in areas such as Nurse-Led research to Laboratory exploratory research on life-changing physiotherapy research. The #WHYWEDORESEARCH featured on the day and got both staff and patients alike thinking about why we do research. Some of the answers were inspiring!
