Clinical research is research that directly involves a particular person or group of people, or that uses materials from humans, such as their behaviour or samples of their tissue. The Clinical Research Facility (CRF) is specially designed to facilitate the safe conduct of clinical research activities. Clinical research often involves people who might be ill or suffer from a chronic disease and for this reason, CRFs are commonly found in an acute hospital setting.
Mission of the Clinical Research Facility
“It is our mission to improve health outcomes and quality of life by leading and enabling high quality, innovative translational clinical research”
The facility has been built to enable the conduct of high quality clinical research. As well as state of the art facilities and equipment the CRF also encompasses, governance arrangements policies and procedures and employs highly trained staff to facilitate the safe conduct of clinical research involving patients and healthy volunteers.
